Cambrian Faculty Potpourri “Romantic Splendour”
The Cambrian College School of Music’s world-class faculty presents a concert of some of the greatest music of the 19th century. This first concert of the Cambrian Concert Series’ 40th season will be the perfect balance of beauty and excitement!
Wednesday, November 6th
G8 Guitar Summit “2 Continents on 8 Guitars”
Internationally acclaimed Canadian Guitar Quartet join the Salzburg Guitar Quartet from Austria in a concert that celebrates this popular and lyrical instrument. This concert is presented in partnership with Guitars Alive and coincides with the release of the CGQ’s latest CD. The Sudbury Guitar Orchestra and Cambrian College Guitar Ensembles will open the show.
Friday, December 6th
Piano Grande “Paris and the (Rite of) Spring”
Hear the ballet music that caused an actual riot, played in its original piano duet form, plus works by composers who were at the Rite’s earth-shattering premiere. This annual tradition continues as faculty and students from the Cambrian College School of Music are joined by special guests to present another thoroughly entertaining evening of music for the piano. Admission is free with a donation of non-perishable goods, in support of local foodbanks.

Adopt a Composer Concert
Cambrian Concert Series is very pleased to present Jason White, classical-jazz crossover pianist, in a program that includes his arrangement of Frank Zappa’s Black Page and improvisations in the style of Thelonius Monk and Steve Reich.

40th Anniversary Concert Season Celebration!
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Cambrian Concert Series, Cambrian College’s School of Music is marking 40 years of public concerts, and the public is invited to join the celebration. A special concert is planned that will highlight the talents of present and former faculty, as well as special guest artists. Some of the performers include Metro Kozak, John Hannah, Marion Harvey and Brenda Arrowsmith. Pieces featured during the musical evening will include Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio, Brahms’ F minor Quintet and a world premiere commissioned by the Cambrian guitar faculty (also known as The Sudbury Guitar Trio).

Senior Awards Competition Finals
Enjoy the sounds of some of Cambrian’s most talented music students at the Senior Awards concert competition. Students in instrumental and vocal categories will be competing for top honours, scholarships, and trophies.

Another Chance Concert
To mark the final day of the About Face exhibit at Cambrian’s downtown Open Studio, the College’s Guitar Ensembles and Guitar Orchestra will perform. About Face is an exhibit of work by Cambrian Graphic Design students that explores the stories and reveals the faces of Sudburians who rely on the Samaritan Centre’s services to meet their basic needs.

Sudbury Youth Orchestra present “For Those About to Rock”
The Sudbury Youth Orchestra takes us on a journey from the early days of rock and roll up to the present, exploring its influence on today’s performers and composers. The performance will include renditions of classic tunes by Elvis, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen and many more. Strings, keyboard, drums and guitars combine for a concert that is guaranteed to rock!
