Professor Ian Gibson went to New York to headline a Scottish pipe band drumming workshop with renowned percussionist Michael Eagle and other special guests.  The Weekend of Percussion took place at New York University and featured world-renowned North American artists and composers. “I shared the stage with percussionists from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and collaborated with some of the best in the business,” explained Gibson.  “It’s exciting, since events like these always boost my creativity and keep me inspired. I’ll be sharing new ideas and learning about new composers and techniques. I meet with students and professors from the Julliard School of Music in New York and building connections that will strengthen prospects for my students at Cambrian who want to further their education.”  Gibson said that between 100 and 200 percussionists attended, taking part in clinics and master classes. Shawn Pelton, the drummer from Saturday Night Live, also offered a workshop in the Weekend of Percussion.
